Numerous anti-protest laws have been passed around the country in retaliation to the growing movements for racial justice, indigenous sovereignty, and climate change solutions. New state bills are being considered that would increase the threat of criminal prosecution for protests and chill free speech. This lobby tracker was created for researchers, journalists, and citizen activists to shed light on the special interests behind these anti-protest bills.
Methodology
Researcher Connor Gibson and the Center for Media and Democracy have combed state ethics and lobbying disclosures, videos of public testimonies, media reports, and statements of support obtained through public records requests to develop this tracker.
